OVERVIEW
Presenting this well-documented and preserved, 1968 Porsche 911S Targa was repainted its factory shade of Light Ivory in 2024 and was acquired by the current owner in 2025. The car is powered by a 2.0-liter flat-six linked with a Type 901 five-speed manual transaxle, and equipment includes a brushed stainless-steel targa bar, driving lights, disc brakes, 15″ Fuchs alloy wheels, a Blaupunkt AM radio, and a heater.
This SWB 911S Targa is now offered on dealer consignment with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and Production Spec Sheet, the owner’s manual, service records, spare parts, and a clean California title. The car came finished from the factory in Light Ivory (6804) and was repainted following the completion of body work in 2024. The black removable roof panel was re-covered in 2025, and exterior details include a brushed stainless-steel targa bar, driving lights, polished trim, and a chrome-plated grille on the rear engine lid. Rust repair was performed on the decklid in 2003.
Condition Notes:
Rust below the windows and states that one side of the Targa top locking mechanism is damaged. The driver’s door lock cylinder does not work. The 15″ Fuchs alloy wheels are mounted with 185/70 Vredestein Sprint Classics tires. The car was factory equipped with an independent front suspension including an anti-sway bar, longitudinal torsion bar, upper struts, and lower wishbones. A front strut tower brace has been added.
The brake master cylinder was replaced in October 2023 along with the brake rotors, pads, and lines. An inspection in July 2025 indicated that the rear sway bar was missing, the rear shocks are worn, the front wheel bearings have excessive play, and the outer tie rods should be replaced. The seating surfaces are upholstered in black leatherette, and interior appointments include door-mounted armrests, lap belts, a Blaupunkt AM radio, and a heater.
The dash has been re-covered and the air conditioning system was removed in 2023. The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a central 8k-rpm tachometer, a 150-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and gauges for fuel level, oil level, oil temperature, and oil pressure. The speedometer and odometer are inoperative and the oil temperature gauge doesn’t work. The five-digit odometer shows 2,600 miles and total mileage is unknown.
A 3.2-liter flat-six was previously fitted, and the 2.0-liter flat-six was overhauled and re-installed in 2018. Service performed by Werks Eleven of Troy, Texas, in 2023 included replacing the fuel tank and lines, distributor, and clutch cable. The car runs rough and the 2025 inspection recommended a valve adjustment, carburetor work, and replacement of the battery.
Oil leaks are noted. Power is routed to the rear wheels through a Type 901 five-speed manual transaxle, which was rebuilt in 2018. The seller notes that second gear can be sticky.
